What Is The Currency Of Zimbabwe?

he Zimbabwe Dollar is no longer the currency of Zimbabwe. The US Dollar is now the currency used, although there are also local bond notes in circulation.

These bond notes only hold value in Zimbabwe and nowhere else in the world, therefore it is advisable to bring small denomination notes as change is rarely available and tourists should avoid receiving change in bond notes as this will be invalid once you leave Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe still experiences extreme cash shortages. So it is also advisable, to bring enough cash for the trip, without having to rely on cash withdrawals, as this is not always possible. Visa and Mastercard’s are accepted at most outlets, however, American Express, Dinner’s and Discovery cards are still widely not accepted. It is recommended to contact your bank or card company to ensure it will work in Zimbabwe.
